With data breaches on the rise and the ever changing threat landscape, healthcare organizations need to be more vigilant than ever when it comes to third-party risks.
A recent Ponemon Institute survey found that more than 41% of surveyed organizations sustained a data breach caused by a third party. The subsequent loss of brand value typically ranged from $184 million to more than $330 million. It was noted that cyber attacks and the IoT are expected to have the most significant impact on an organization’s third party risk profile according to the survey.
Does your healthcare organization have a formal vendor risk management program and have you considered the cyber security risk impact to your data from a potential third-party breach? What is Internal Audits roll in the vendor risk management program?
